Celebrated for his special brand of street photography, Karim El Hayawan has exhibited his artwork extensively both in Egypt and abroad. The mission behind Karim’s artwork is defined in his own terms as the “converting of random street observations into a visual narrative that defines the complexities of the ever- expanding urban metropolis. Ultimately, these photographs act as a tool to reveal commonalities in collective experiences of life, with the key theme being the concept of ‘universal metaphors’”. Among his photographs displayed at the Gyptian Photo Show is “Lillie’s”, a powerful image looking up at the laundry hung up to dry from above. ‘Lillie’s’ was first exhibited at the Abu Dhabi Art Fair in 2018.
