The Sinai Builders By Omar Gazar
Sinai’s mountains form the backdrop of religious revelations, legendary journeys, and a booming local tourism industry. Go off the beaten path though and you’ll find the local community of Bedouins, who have been the keepers of this enigmatic land for centuries. Their lives are engulfed in nature, and the constructions they build for shelter and activity are built by hand using materials largely sourced from their surrounding environment. Omar Gazar’s photographs highlight their stoic livelihoods and laborious efforts, as the male members of a Sinai tribe come together to erect a house for one of their fellow members.
